After seeing the advertising campaigns around from the likes of Harvey Norman and other major companies out in the market place. We thought that we should jump on the band wagon and secure an Australian made logo from the appropriate source just incase people needed more reassurance that we infact are a fully Australian made and owned company.

The Australian Made green and gold logo was launched by the Federal Government in 1986. Since 1999 it has been administered by Australian Made Campaign Limited (AMCL), a not-for-profit public company established by the Australian and state and territory chambers of commerce. It is the most widely recognized and trusted product symbol for Australian products.

To qualify to use the logo, products must comply with the country of origin provisions of the Trade Practices Act, i.e. products must be substantially transformed in Australia, with at least 50 per cent of the cost of production being incurred in Australia.

Firstly you have to pay a percentage of your turnover for the privilege of supporting your country which we found to be a complete disappointment considering they are a non profit organization, but what we found next was a complete shock. This is straight from the Australian made site..

Now just for an example , You could import a coffee table from china or the likes of for $80 landed here in Australia if you then get your experienced polisher that you are paying $30 plus on costs to give it a final check over and prepare for paint and then spend money on the stain and lacquer you will easily spend $40 which is 50% of the cost of production . This in turn qualifies you to now be able to tell the consumer 'you the public' that it is infact Australian made.

In affect you are being lied to by a clever marketing campaign designed to pull the wool over your eyes in respect to products that are not what they seem .
